Don’t get holed up inside and miss all the adventure under the beautiful sun this summer. All your friends and family would be out enjoying the warmth of the sun and you definitely should not miss this opportunity to have fun with them before the snow takes all that away.
You may have already thought up all the things that you could do to have fun and it seems like there’s nothing new to do but that’s where you’re wrong. As difficult as it may be to find new things to do, there’s always something fun waiting to be discovered or rediscovered. There are several outdoor games and activities you could do with friends this summer and you may not have to go far to do them.
Everyone should still be able to remember the traditional capture the flag from when they were kids, but what’s with the idea that you can’t have fun playing these games even as an adult? ‘Capture the flag’ is still very much fun to play, especially with friends this summer.
You can laugh about how silly it is but it only adds more to the fun, and all you need is at least up to six people and two flags of different colors to get started. If you’re going to be using your backyard or lawn, you’ll have to demarcate into two joint courts and maximize your space.
Divide players into two groups and let each team put their flag at the back of their section. The main objective in this game is to steal the opposing team's flag and protect your own all without being tagged or caught by the opponents.
You will have to run through the opponent’s court fast, and avoid being tagged, because if you get tagged, you’re out. You win if you manage to get the flag and you bring ‘honor’ to your clan. You’re certainly going to enjoy this game.
‘Kick the can’ is another interesting outdoor game to play this summer. You can play with as many people as possible, in fact, the more you are the merrier. Hopefully, there are enough hiding spots to accommodate everyone because, in this game, you’re going to have to hide. At the start of the game, every player assembles and someone is voted as ‘It’.
The person who is voted now has to kick the can signaling to the remaining players to hide. This selected person then counts up to a hundred with their eyes closed or in a separate place from the people hiding, and after the count gets to a hundred the player places the can back up and shouts that they are coming, then the search begins.
When kids play this game the person counting chants “Ready or not, here I come!” But as grown teens or adults, you can skip that chant, or just do it since it sounds fun and cliche.
Once someone is found, the person and the searcher race to kick the can, and if the hider does first, they win and the game is over. Otherwise, the search continues and the hider is trapped beside the can. There are still many games that could be played, so, you can never really run out of fun things to do for the summer.
